Medtech is not the same as life science. That said, the areas are related and Medtech typically fall under the umbrella term that is life science.
Life Science vs Medtech
Life science includes a ton of areas: Technically speaking, all organizations that research and manufacture products and solutions that exist to help, or save, organic life, can be called a life-science company. That said, when we talk about the life-science industry we oftentimes talk about Biotech, Health tech, Pharma – and Medtech.
Medtech
With that, the medtech industry falls under the life-science umbrella. Companies working in the area produce things like devices, tools, software and machines. These are usually made to diagnose, treat, care or monitor people’s health.
Medtech products are mostly used within hospitals and tend to be regulated.
